Apple picking in l'Etoile. Jura.

Every evening after work, Mum and Dad go and pick apples. They are overwhelmed with apples... they don't like to waste so every apple must be picked. They make apple sauce, apple juice, apple tarts, apple and raspberry crumbles and give the rest to friends and family. Nice thing is that some of them can be harvested now and used during the winter.

Hi Celine,

Not sure if my earlier post "worked" until I signed up as a Google Blogger. I'm new to the blogging "thing". I'm so glad you are doing well settling back in to your home country. We miss you in Oregon. The apple picking reminds me of growing up in Salem with lots of filber (hazelnut) and walnut trees to harvest. This was my after school and weekend job to harvest nuts for drying and then eventually take to a local roaster. We had nuts all year long to enjoy (but lots of work). The walnuts in particular were not fun. They have an outer skin that you need to remove that stains your fingers black. Not too "pretty" when you go to school. Take are. Thank you for keeping in touch. The pictures make me want to come visit right now. We will save our pennies!
